ACCD Vehicle Demo

Last year Mark Goerner invited me down to do a show and tell for his Advanced Entertainment class at Art Center. At the time most of my professional work was NDA but I still want to show something current. Over the course of a week I put together the presentation. Within that week I also built a practical model to demonstrate the value of working a design problem a number of ways. I received a ton of help with the model from IMD's model department - most of them ex-Star Wars guys. Recently I added a few tweaks to the design – mostly a slight redesign of the cockpit canopy breakup and working out an interesting landing gear assembly which reminds me of the hanging legs of a mud wasp. I had a blast doing the talk. Thanks for invite Mark!

Syd Mead Master Copy

Here’s an old master copy I did back at college. It took a lot of careful plotting but it was sure fun to do. Lately, I’ve been working more in 3D. Hopefully, this image will remind me to draw more. Syd Mead has been such a great inspiration to me I thought I would share this.

Explorer 1 Commemorative Pin

A while back I got an opportunity to design a commemorative pin for the 50th Anniversary of America’s first satellite - Explorer 1. After the job was done I was invited to join the dinner celebrations at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena. It was an awesome night with live rover demonstrations. Also, I got to meet some of the early space pioneers as well as NASA Mission Leaders planning future unmanned expeditions to Mars and Jupiter’s icy moon Europa.

Mars Needs Moms

Mars Needs Moms was the first film I worked on at IMD. I had the great pleasure working under the art direction of Doug Chiang and with many other talented artists - should look amazing. In the coming weeks I look forward to sharing some of my design work from this project. It’s in theaters March 11th so go check it out!

Paths of Hate

I found this trailer a while ago but can’t seem to stop watching it. I love the stylized look of this and the animation is out of control! Super inspirational work! Trailer

UN Aid Module

This piece started as color and compositional exercise with no particular direction in mind. From the early arrangement of shapes I envisioned an oppressive wall dividing a cold and war-torn landscape. A UN Aid Module is stopped while displaced people collect much needed supplies to cope with their harsh environment. In future pieces I'll try to spend more time with human aspects to create a more emotive image.
